What Was AF2?

AF2 (Arena Football 2) was the AFL's official developmental league, operating from 2000 through 2009. AF2 played a smaller-roster, lower-budget version of arena football in cities the AFL didn't reach, producing players who advanced to AFL and NFL careers. The league's championship was the ArenaCup. AF2 closed alongside the AFL's 2009 hiatus and was succeeded by the IFL (Indoor Football League) in many former AF2 markets.
