About the Denver White Elephants

The Denver White Elephants were one of the longest-operating independent Black baseball franchises in the Rocky Mountain region, playing in the 1910s through the 1940s. The franchise represented Denver's small but dedicated Black baseball fan base and served as a regional anchor for Mountain West Black baseball, hosting traveling Negro Leagues teams when they swung through Colorado. The White Elephants are one of the rarest collectible Black baseball franchises today — a deep-cut piece of Rocky Mountain baseball heritage.

After Major League Baseball's December 16, 2020 reclassification of the seven Negro Leagues operating between 1920 and 1948 as major leagues, every NLB-era player from this franchise is now an MLB-recognized major leaguer.
