Houston Sports History

The Houston Colt 45's debuted in 1962 as the major leagues' expansion entry into Texas, playing three seasons under that name at Colt Stadium before rebranding to the Astros and moving into the Astrodome in 1965. The Houston Aeros of the WHA (1972–1978) won back-to-back Avco World Trophies in 1974 and 1975 with Gordie Howe playing alongside his sons Mark and Marty — one of the most legendary stories in pro hockey.
