The Los Angeles Cobras played a single season in the AFL in 1988 at the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena. The Cobras were one of the league's earliest expansion entries and gave Southern California its first arena football franchise during the AFL's foundational era.
The team folded after one season, ending arena football's first attempt to establish a Los Angeles presence — a market that would be revisited more than a decade later with the LA Avengers from 2000 to 2008.
