Team: Kentucky Thoroughblades
Years Active: 1996–2001
Home: Rupp Arena — Lexington, KY

The Kentucky Thoroughblades brought top-level minor league hockey to Lexington for five seasons, 1996 to 2001, playing at Rupp Arena as a development affiliate of a major professional hockey organization. The club leaned hard into a horse-racing theme that fit the Kentucky market perfectly, right down to the name and a teal, purple, and silver color scheme built around a thoroughbred logo.

It was one of the most committed pieces of themed branding minor league hockey produced in the 1990s. Financial pressure and the difficulty of selling hockey in a basketball-mad market caught up with the club, and the franchise moved to Cleveland after the 2000–01 season, ending Kentucky's brief run at that level.

Vintage-inspired reproduction — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any team, league, or organization. Used for historical and artistic purposes only.
