The Cincinnati Swords played three seasons of professional minor-league hockey at the Cincinnati Gardens from 1971 to 1974, capturing the Calder Cup as Minor League Hockey champions in 1973 — the Queen City's first major-tier hockey championship. The Swords were a development affiliate of an established top-tier organization and built one of the most successful short-run minor-pro franchises of the early 1970s.

The 1972–73 Swords roster was anchored by goaltender Don Edwards, center Jim Lorentz, and defenseman Jocelyn Guevremont — all of whom would go on to top-tier careers. The franchise folded after the 1973–74 season as the founding of the WHA Cincinnati Stingers changed the city's professional hockey landscape, but the Swords' Calder Cup banner remains the first major championship in Cincinnati professional hockey history.
