The Cincinnati Mighty Ducks were established when the Baltimore Bandits relocated in 1997. The team moved into the historic Cincinnati Gardens, which had just been vacated by the Cincinnati Cyclones who had moved downtown to Riverfront Coliseum. The city now had two minor league hockey teams which would be the case for the next 6 seasons as both teams drew well at their respective venues. The Ducks were sold in 2006 as their parent club switched to a new minor league affiliate.
