Team: Baltimore Stallions
Years Active: 1994–1995
Home: Memorial Stadium — Baltimore, MD
Titles: 1995 Grey Cup champions
The Baltimore Stallions played two seasons of Canadian football at Memorial Stadium, the former home of the NFL's Baltimore Colts. The franchise was originally announced under the Colts name, but an NFL trademark lawsuit forced a name change just before the 1994 opener; the club played that season without a nickname before adopting the Stallions name for 1995.
Coached by Don Matthews and led by 1995 Most Outstanding Player Tracy Ham, running back Mike Pringle, and defensive standout Elfrid Payton, the Stallions reached the Grey Cup both seasons, losing in 1994 and winning it in 1995 — the only American-based team ever to do so. The franchise folded after the season when the NFL's Ravens relocation was announced, and its roster and front office moved to Montreal for 1996.
