The Miami Manatees were a proposed 1995 expansion franchise for Canada's major professional football league but never played a game. Awarded as part of the league's southern U.S. expansion push, the Manatees were slated to play at Joe Robbie Stadium (now Hard Rock Stadium) alongside the NFL Dolphins.
Ownership challenges, weak ticket pre-sales, and questions about south Florida's appetite for a second pro football team caused the league to cancel the franchise before play began. The Manatees remain one of the great never-was Historic Canadian Football stories — a proposed identity that never made it past announcement-stage before the league's brief American experiment collapsed after 1995.
