Titles: 2005 WNBA champions
The Sacramento Monarchs played 13 seasons in the WNBA as one of the league's eight original 1997 franchises, winning the 2005 championship over the Connecticut Sun 3–1 in the Finals.
The championship roster featured Finals MVP Yolanda Griffith, Ticha Penicheiro, and DeMya Walker under head coach John Whisenant. The Monarchs folded after the 2009 season due to ownership's financial troubles — the first WNBA franchise to fold while holding a championship.
