League: Arena Football League (AFL)
Years Active: 1987–2008, 2010–2019

Founded by Jim Foster in 1986, the Arena Football League debuted in 1987 with four charter franchises — the Denver Dynamite, Pittsburgh Gladiators, Chicago Bruisers, and Washington Commandos — and grew into the longest-running indoor football league in American sports history, with franchises across Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Philadelphia, and Tampa Bay.

Heavy debts forced a one-year hiatus in 2009; the league returned in 2010 and played through 2019 before folding for good. Across 32 total seasons the AFL crowned dynasties including the Detroit Drive, Tampa Bay Storm, San Jose SaberCats, Orlando Predators, and Philadelphia Soul.

Vintage-inspired reproduction — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any team, league, or organization. Used for historical and artistic purposes only.
