The Minnesota Fighting Pike played a single season in the AFL in 1996 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, sharing the venue with the NBA's Minnesota Timberwolves. The Fighting Pike gave Minnesota its only arena football franchise during the AFL's mid-1990s growth era.

The team folded after one season as the AFL trimmed franchises in the late 1990s. Despite the short run, the Fighting Pike's distinctive name and Twin Cities market presence made the franchise one of the most-collected single-season AFL teams among arena football fans.
