The Miami Seahawks played a single season in the AAFC in 1946 at the Orange Bowl, becoming the first major-league professional football franchise based in Florida. The Seahawks struggled to a 3–11 inaugural campaign and folded after one season due to weak attendance and financial losses.
The franchise was relocated and rebranded as the Baltimore Colts for 1947, giving Maryland its first AAFC entry. Miami would not host another major pro football team until the AFL Dolphins arrived in 1966, but the Seahawks' single AAFC season remains the city's earliest pro football chapter.
