The Leland Giants were one of Chicago's premier Black baseball clubs in the early 1900s, founded by player-manager Frank Leland. The team featured some of the era's greatest talents — including Rube Foster, who would later split off to form the legendary Chicago American Giants.
The Leland Giants paved the way for organized Black baseball in Chicago, and the franchise lineage continued through the American Giants — winners of seven Negro National League titles between 1920 and 1933 in the NLB.
