Team: Portland Pirates
Years Active: 1993–2016
Home: Cumberland County Civic Center / Cross Insurance Arena — Portland, ME
Titles: Calder Cup champions 1993–94

The Portland Pirates brought top-level minor league hockey to Maine in 1993, tracing their lineage back to the 1975 Erie Blades and the 1982 Baltimore Skipjacks. The Pirates won the Calder Cup in their very first Portland season, 1993–94, one of the most successful franchise debuts in the league's history.

Playing at the Cumberland County Civic Center, later renamed the Cross Insurance Arena, the Pirates served as a development affiliate for major hockey organizations across more than two decades and built one of New England's most loyal minor-pro followings. The franchise relocated to Springfield, Massachusetts after the 2015–16 season.

Vintage-inspired reproduction — not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any team, league, or organization. Used for historical and artistic purposes only.
