The Tacoma Tigers had little on-field success during their minor leagues run — winning only one division title (1981) over 15 seasons in the AAA Pacific Coast League. Despite the lack of wins, the team featured some of the biggest stars of the late 1980s and early 1990s as Oakland A's affiliates passed through.

Notable Tigers alumni included Mark McGwire (#28), Jose Canseco (#37), Walt Weiss, and Scott Brosius — bash-brothers and World Series players who launched their MLB careers in Tacoma.
