The Baltimore Colts played three All-America Football Conference seasons from 1947 to 1949 at Municipal Stadium, the relocated continuation of the 1946 Miami Seahawks and the city's first major-league professional football team.
The Colts joined the NFL along with the Browns and 49ers when the AAFC dissolved after 1949, but folded after a single 1950 NFL season due to financial losses. Baltimore regained an NFL franchise in 1953 — a separate, later Colts franchise that eventually moved to Indianapolis in 1984.
