                  Sacramento Surge/Gold Miners Mini Helmet

Team: Sacramento Gold Miners · Surge
                  Years Active: 1991–1994 (WLAF 1991–92 · Canadian football 1993–94)
Home: Hughes Stadium (1991) / Hornet Stadium (1992–1994) — Sacramento, CA
Titles: 1992 World Bowl champions (as the Sacramento Surge)

Sacramento's entry into major professional football began in 1991 as the Surge, a charter franchise of the World League of American Football under head coach Kay Stephenson. Behind quarterback David Archer and an announcing crew that included Jack Youngblood and Ronnie Lott, the Surge won the 1992 World Bowl over the Orlando Thunder before the league suspended play.

In 1993, owner Fred Anderson brought pro football back to Sacramento by launching the Gold Miners in Canadian football — the first U.S.-based team in that league's history. Stephenson again coached the club through both Canadian football seasons, going 6–12 in 1993 and 9–9 in 1994, before the franchise relocated and became the San Antonio Texans for 1995.

This product is a historical, vintage-inspired representation of a defunct team. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any active team, league, or organization. Any team names, logos, or imagery are used for historical and artistic purposes only.
