The Rosebuds were most notable for briefly holding Lord Stanley's cup in 1916 after winning the PCHA championship. The Rosebuds then lost the cup to the Canadiens in a series that came down to a late goal. The team folded shortly after and a new Rosebuds team returned to Portland in 1925. After only one season, its players were sold to the Chicago and promptly folded.
