The Orlando Renegades were the former Washington Federals, who were sold with intent of becoming the Spirit of Miami. When the league announced it was moving to the fall the team was moved to Orlando rather than compete with the Dolphins. The Renegades drew much better crowds than the Federals and the future looked bright for the team. However, the league folded before the 1986 season.
