The Orlando Miracle were one of the first four expansion teams awarded by the women's pro basketball league in 1999. After the 2002 season, the league dropped it's single-entity ownership model in favor of individual owners. Most of the teams were managed by their local counterparts in the men's pro league. Some took over ownership of the women's teams, some did not. Orlando's ownership group opted out. Instead of folding, though, the team was relocated to Connecticut, where they remain to this day.
