The Montreal Maroons hold a unique place in Legacy Hockey history — they were the last non-Original Six franchise to win the Stanley Cup until the Philadelphia Flyers ended that drought 36 years later in 1974. The Maroons were founded in 1924 as a team for Montreal's English-speaking community, sharing the city with the French-Canadian Montreal Canadiens. To accommodate the new franchise, ownership built a brand-new arena in 1924: the Montreal Forum, which would become one of the most legendary buildings in hockey history.

The Maroons captured the Stanley Cup in just their second season (1925–26), upsetting the heavily favored Ottawa Senators and then defeating the WCHL's Victoria Cougars three games to one — the last Stanley Cup Final ever contested between teams from two different leagues. They won a second Cup in 1935, sweeping the Toronto Maple Leafs. Stars Nels Stewart (a three-time goal-scoring leader) and Hooley Smith powered the franchise across its 14-season run. The Great Depression eventually caught up to the Maroons, and the team suspended operations after the 1937–38 season with a 6–3 loss to the rival Canadiens. The franchise was never revived.

  • Changes can only be made within 48 hours of purchase. After 48 hours, the order has entered production and we can't modify it.
  • Cancellations after 48 hours are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

Construction options

Many jerseys offer choices like application method (replica/printed vs sewn tackle twill), sleeve length, or add-on patches. The available options appear on the customization screen as you go through it.

Custom measurements

We can produce jerseys in custom measurements including women's and youth sizes. We can also modify other details on the jerseys shown on the site. For these requests, email custom@royalretros.com before ordering.

Blank-jersey exchanges

Custom jerseys ordered blank (no name or number) can be exchanged for another size or for store credit. Custom jerseys with a name or number printed/sewn are final sale.

Production timeframe

Custom jerseys are made-to-order and ship in 3-7 weeks depending on construction style. The exact lead time for the style you choose is shown on the Decoration Type screen during customization.

Expedited shipping

Choosing an expedited shipping method does not speed up production, it only affects how we ship the order once it's been made. If you need your jersey by a specific date, contact us before ordering.

Standard shipping starts at $5.99. Free Economy shipping on US orders $125+. International shipping available to most countries.
