The Montreal Manic played their part in North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1981 to 1983, staging home matches inside the massive Olympic Stadium. Relocated from Philadelphia, the club debuted before a big opening-night crowd and drew one of the largest playoff audiences in league history during a deep 1981 postseason run. The Manic saved one of their finest moments for last, stunning the storied New York Cosmos in the 1983 playoffs before bowing out the following round.
