The Dayton Triangles were established in 1913 as a semi-pro team. In 1920, they became charter members of the American Professional Football Association (APFA), the pro football circuit that changed its name in 1922 and is now one of the biggest sports leagues in the world. In 1930, the team moved to Brooklyn. Many consider the current Indianapolis team to be the descendants of the Triangles, though the league does not, officially. However, an examination of the numerous moves and reallocation of assets over the years, shows the Triangles do indeed live on as the Colts.
