The Buffalo Destroyers played five seasons in the AFL from 1999 to 2003 at HSBC Arena (now KeyBank Center), home of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres. The Destroyers gave Western New York its only AFL franchise and built a strong regional following during the late AFL II era.
After the 2003 season, the franchise relocated to Ohio and rebranded as the Columbus Destroyers, continuing the franchise lineage through 2008. The Buffalo Destroyers represent the original chapter of a multi-city franchise that played in both Buffalo and Columbus.
