Titles: 1929 American Negro League champions
The Black Sox are most notable for their 1929 season in which they won the American Negro League championship. That season featured the "million dollar infield" — what the media projected their starting infielders would have been worth had they been allowed to play in the white major leagues.
The team eventually folded five years later when multiple star players left the team and the league rejected the franchise, believing they would not be competitive enough to remain at the major-league level. Hall of Famers included Satchel Paige, Mule Suttles, Ben Taylor, and Jud Wilson.
