The Vipers were members of the re-booted Arena Football League (AFL) starting in 2009. Prior to that, they were known as the Tennessee Valley Vipers and played in the AFL's minor league, af2, where they won that league's final title. In 2005, the original Vipers relocated to Rockford, IL, but the af2 awarded Huntsville an expansion team which kept the Vipers name. In 2010, they moved to Duluth, GA and became the second iteration of the Georgia Force.
