The Crawfords were named by team owner Gus Greenlee, who also owned the Crawford Grill — a popular nightclub in Pittsburgh. The Crawfords are recognized as one of the greatest teams of their era in the NLB. As a result of the team's success, the franchise was one of the few to own its own stadium: Greenlee Field, in the city's Hill District.

In 1937, following back-to-back championships, many of the team's star players — including three future Hall of Famers — left to play in the Dominican Republic. The team never recovered, and after declining attendance the franchise moved twice and finally folded in 1940. Notable Hall of Fame Crawfords included Satchel Paige (#26), Oscar Charleston, Josh Gibson (#11), Cool Papa Bell (#17), and Judy Johnson (#35).

  • Changes can only be made within 48 hours of purchase. After 48 hours, the order has entered production and we can't modify it.
  • Cancellations after 48 hours are subject to a 20% restocking fee.

Construction options

Many jerseys offer choices like application method (replica/printed vs sewn tackle twill), sleeve length, or add-on patches. The available options appear on the customization screen as you go through it.

Custom measurements

We can produce jerseys in custom measurements including women's and youth sizes. We can also modify other details on the jerseys shown on the site. For these requests, email custom@royalretros.com before ordering.

Blank-jersey exchanges

Custom jerseys ordered blank (no name or number) can be exchanged for another size or for store credit. Custom jerseys with a name or number printed/sewn are final sale.

Production timeframe

Custom jerseys are made-to-order and ship in 3-7 weeks depending on construction style. The exact lead time for the style you choose is shown on the Decoration Type screen during customization.

Expedited shipping

Choosing an expedited shipping method does not speed up production, it only affects how we ship the order once it's been made. If you need your jersey by a specific date, contact us before ordering.
