The Orlando Rage owned the best regular-season record in the XFL in 2001 at 8–2, claiming the Eastern Conference title before losing the conference semifinal in an upset. Playing at the Florida Citrus Bowl, the Rage built one of the strongest gate followings of the 2001 season and finished as the league's regular-season co-leader alongside the Los Angeles Xtreme.
Head coach Galen Hall led the franchise, and quarterback Jeff Brohm — later a successful college head coach at Western Kentucky, Purdue, and Louisville — directed the offense. The Rage jersey became one of the most-collected pieces of 2001-era XFL apparel.
