The Raleigh-Durham Skyhawks played a single season in the WLAF / NFL Europe in 1991 at Carter-Finley Stadium on the campus of NC State. The Skyhawks were one of the league's charter franchises and gave the Research Triangle its first taste of professional football.
After a difficult inaugural campaign, the franchise was relocated to Columbus, Ohio for 1992 and rebranded as the Ohio Glory. The Skyhawks lasted only one year in North Carolina but remain a unique chapter in the WLAF's first season, when the league put spring football into markets the NFL had not yet reached.
