About the Pittsburgh Condors

The Pittsburgh Condors are the rebranded final chapter of Pittsburgh's ABA franchise. The team began as the Pittsburgh Pipers (1967–1968), winning the inaugural 1968 ABA Championship behind Connie Hawkins, then relocated to Minnesota as the Minnesota Pipers (1968–1969) before returning to Pittsburgh as the Pipers for the 1969–1970 season. For the 1970–1971 season, new ownership rebranded the team as the Pittsburgh Condors with new uniforms, a new logo featuring the bird mascot, and a fresh start. The Condors played two seasons (1970–1972) at the Civic Arena, struggling on the court and at the gate. After the 1971–1972 season, the franchise folded entirely, ending the original Pittsburgh ABA story. The Condors' distinctive mascot logo and uniform design remain a beloved deep-cut ABA throwback for collectors. Royal Retros honors the Condors' brief but identity-defining run.
