League: XFL
Years Active: 2001, 2020, 2023
Champions: 2001 Los Angeles Xtreme · 2023 Arlington Renegades

The XFL launched in 2001 as a single-season joint venture between Vince McMahon's WWF and NBC, a more aggressive, entertainment-driven alternative to the NFL. The Los Angeles Xtreme won the only championship of that one-season run before the league folded.

McMahon revived the XFL in 2020 with eight new franchises, but the season was cancelled after five weeks due to COVID-19 with no champion crowned. Dwayne Johnson and RedBird Capital acquired the league out of bankruptcy and relaunched it in 2023; the Arlington Renegades won that season's title before the XFL merged with the rival USFL to form the United Football League (UFL) for 2024, closing out three distinct eras.
