Team: Madison Monsters
Years Active: 1995–1999
Home: Dane County Memorial Coliseum — Madison, WI

The Monsters were the Colonial Hockey League's first team in Wisconsin, and its first anywhere outside Michigan and Ontario, arriving in 1995 to test whether a state that lived for college hockey would turn out for the professional game. The league renamed itself the United Hockey League in 1997, and the Monsters carried on under the new banner, reaching the postseason in three of their four seasons without getting past the first round.

The crowds never followed. Owner Andrew Wilhelm announced in April 1999 that the franchise was moving to Tennessee, where it became the Knoxville Speed.
