The Leland Giants were one of Chicago's premier Black baseball clubs of the early 1900s, founded by player-manager Frank Leland. The roster featured some of the era's greatest talent, including Rube Foster, who later split off to form the Chicago American Giants.

The Leland Giants paved the way for organized Black baseball in Chicago, with that franchise lineage continuing through the American Giants — winners of seven Negro National League titles between 1920 and 1933.
