The Minnesota Strikers arrived in North American Soccer League (NASL) for the 1984 season, relocating north from Florida and bringing established veterans to the Twin Cities. Playing outdoor home matches at the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, the Strikers posted a winning record but narrowly missed the playoffs in what proved to be the outdoor league's final season. The club then carried on indoors for several more winters at the Met Center, even reaching an indoor championship series before the franchise wound down later in the decade.
