The Seattle Pilots were one of the most short-lived franchises in major leagues history — they existed for exactly one season (1969) before being sold in bankruptcy court and relocated to Milwaukee, where they became the Brewers. The Pilots played at Sick's Stadium, a minor-league ballpark hastily and inadequately expanded to major-league capacity, and finished 64–98.

The franchise is best remembered as the subject of pitcher Jim Bouton's groundbreaking memoir Ball Four — a behind-the-scenes diary of the 1969 season that scandalized baseball when it was published in 1970 and remains one of the most influential sports books ever written. Seattle would not see big-league baseball again until the expansion Mariners arrived in 1977.
