The Kentucky Barrels are part of Arena Football One (AF1) — the indoor football league that re-launched the arena game in 2024 with a coast-to-coast slate of teams competing on the 50-yard indoor field. The Barrels brought big-time arena football to Kentucky, giving the Bluegrass State a hometown indoor team to call its own and immediately tapping into the region's deep love of high-scoring, fast-paced, fan-friendly football.
Arena football itself was reborn for a new generation of fans through AF1, with games featuring the same wild offensive numbers, padded sideline barriers, rebound nets, and proximity to the action that made the original Arena Football League a cult phenomenon in the 1980s, '90s and 2000s.
