The Oakland Skates were a charter franchise of Roller Hockey International (RHI) in 1993 and one of the league's longest-running franchises, playing four seasons at the Oakland Coliseum Arena. The Skates served as Northern California's primary RHI identity alongside the later San Jose Rhinos and built one of the league's strongest Bay Area gate followings. The franchise folded after the 1996 season.
