The Chicago Rush played 11 seasons across two AFL eras — 2001 to 2008 in AFL II, then 2010 to 2013 in the post-hiatus revival. The Rush played at the Allstate Arena in suburban Chicago and captured ArenaBowl XX in 2006, defeating the Orlando Predators 69–61.

Quarterback Sherdrick Bonner and head coach Mike Hohensee guided the championship run, with Bonner becoming one of the AFL's all-time leading passers across his career with the Rush and Arizona Rattlers. The Rush were Chicago's return to arena football, nearly two decades after the original Chicago Bruisers (1987–1989) folded.
