The Birmingham Iron played the abbreviated 2019 season in the AAF at Legion Field, the historic venue that has hosted Birmingham pro football from the WFL Americans/Vulcans through the USFL Stallions and the XFL Thunderbolts. The Iron were one of eight founding franchises in Charlie Ebersol's spring-football league.
Head coach Tim Lewis led the Iron, with Luis Perez and Keith Price splitting quarterback duties. Birmingham finished 5–3 across the eight weeks of play before the league suspended operations in April 2019, making the Iron one of the more competitive AAF squads.
