Team: St. Louis Stallions
Years Active: Never played (proposed for the 1995 NFL expansion class)
Home: Trans World Dome (proposed) — St. Louis, MO

The St. Louis Stallions were one of five finalists in the early-1990s NFL expansion process — alongside Carolina, Jacksonville, Baltimore, and Memphis — bidding to bring the NFL back to St. Louis after the Cardinals left for Phoenix in 1988. Ownership was confident enough that construction began on a new downtown domed stadium ahead of the league's decision.

The NFL awarded its two 1995 expansion franchises to Carolina and Jacksonville, leaving St. Louis without a team. New England's Robert Kraft briefly considered relocating to the new stadium and adopting the Stallions name before staying in Foxborough, and the Los Angeles Rams ultimately moved into the building for 1995 under their own name. The Stallions never played a game, but the name remains a defining what-could-have-been of 1990s NFL expansion.
