About the Albany Firebirds
The Albany Firebirds are one of the most beloved franchises in arena football history. The original Firebirds played in the Arena Football League (AFL) from 1990 through 2001, building a passionate Northeast fanbase in Albany Capital Region's arenas. The original Firebirds won the 1999 ArenaBowl and produced numerous AFL standouts. After the original AFL closed in 2019, the Firebirds were among the classic franchises revived for Arena Football One (AF1) in 2024, bringing arena football back to Albany.
