The Baltimore Claws were the final iteration of the long-running Buccaneers / Pros / Tams / Sounds franchise lineage in the ABA. The team acquired Dan Issel in a trade — but never paid the $500,000 that was part of the relocation deal, and Issel never joined the Claws. The team played just three preseason games and folded before the regular season due to financial problems, ending the franchise's nine-year run that started as the 1967 New Orleans Buccaneers.
