The Vancouver Blazers were the relocated Philadelphia Blazers, moving west to the World Hockey Association's Pacific Coliseum for the 1973–74 season after one rocky year in Philadelphia. The move gave Vancouver a second big-league hockey club alongside its established top-tier team across town.

Andre Lacroix continued as the Blazers' offensive star across two competitive seasons, but the club struggled to draw attention in a city already committed to its established franchise. Ownership relocated the team again after 1974–75, this time to Calgary, where it continued play as the Calgary Cowboys.
