Before the NFL's Texans arrived in 2002, Houston had another team by that name: the World Football League's Houston Texans, playing at the Astrodome in 1974. The franchise relocated to Shreveport for the 1975 season, becoming the Steamer and moving into State Fair Stadium, one of the smallest markets in the league.

The WFL folded in October 1975, cutting the Steamer's only season in Louisiana short. Two cities, two seasons, one franchise — and still the only major professional football team Shreveport has ever hosted.

This is a historical representation of a defunct team, not affiliated with or endorsed by any active team, league, or organization.
