The Cincinnati Mohawks were one of the city's earliest professional hockey franchises, playing nearly a decade at Cincinnati Gardens from 1949 to 1958. The club moved between the American Hockey Association and the International Hockey League during its run, settling into the IHL by the mid-1950s.

The Mohawks' nine seasons made Cincinnati Gardens a foundational venue of mid-century Midwestern minor-pro hockey and laid the groundwork for the city's later hockey ventures, including the WHA's Cincinnati Stingers in the 1970s.
