The Pittsburgh Pirates ice hockey club — not to be confused with the baseball Pirates of the same era — played five seasons in the top tier of professional hockey. The team traced its roots to the Pittsburgh Yellow Jackets before attorney James F. Callahan bought and renamed it after the city's baseball club.

Anchored by captain Lionel Conacher, later voted Canada's male athlete of the half-century, the Pirates posted their best record, 19–16–1, in their 1925–26 debut season. The Wall Street Crash and Great Depression buried the franchise in debt, and it relocated to Philadelphia for 1930–31, where it lasted one disastrous season as the Quakers.
