The American Giants were one of the most successful teams in Negro Leagues history, winning seven Negro National League titles in thirteen years, including two Negro World Series, on a game built around pitching, defense, and speed.

The dynasty ended after the team moved to Comiskey Park when South Side Park was converted into a horse-racing track. Hall of Fame players included Cool Papa Bell, Oscar Charleston, Bill Foster, Rube Foster, John Henry Lloyd, Turkey Stearnes, and Cristóbal Torriente.
