The Portland Thunder played the abbreviated 1975 season of the WFL at Civic Stadium as the rebranded continuation of the 1974 Portland Storm. The Thunder competed in the league's second year before the WFL suspended operations in October 1975 — ending Portland's pro football presence until the Portland Breakers of the USFL (1985) and later spring-league experiments.

The Thunder name would later be revived for an Arena Football League franchise in the 2010s — though the AFL Thunder are unrelated to the original WFL club.
