The Texas Terror played the 1996 season in the AFL at The Summit in Houston as the renamed continuation of the Memphis Pharaohs franchise. The Terror lasted one season under the Texas name before rebranding again as the Houston Thunderbears in 1996 — the team's third name in three years.

As the Houston Thunderbears, the franchise continued through 2001 before folding. The Terror represents the brief middle chapter of a multi-city, multi-name franchise that played in Memphis, Houston as Texas Terror, and Houston as Thunderbears across the late-1990s AFL.
